New Post: ECW slow

Dear MapWinGis Team,

I am using an ECW file of 3 Gb. Loading it takes about 30 seconds and zooming and panning takes multiple seconds too. Zoom extents takes about 20 seconds.

Using QGIS or another GIS package does that factor 10 faster.

Only when I zoom in to a small part i have satisfying speed of zooming and panning. MapWindow has no issues like that with for example shapefiles. Even large (200Mb +) are rendering fast.

What can i do to make ECW files load and render faster? I'd prefer not to export it to another raster file format.

Thanks!

I have a problem and no clue...
Maybe somebody has an idea...

I've developed an winforms application with MWG 4.9.3.6. The application runs without problems on my development system.
Now I've tried to deploy it to a workstation.
The problem is, that it doesn't load the ogr-layers from my mssql-server (2008/R2).
Everything else works. The database-connect is okay. I can request the number of records in the spatial table via sql without problems.
Trying to load an ogr-layer results in 'failed to load ogr datasource'.
Trying to get the problem solved, I installed qgis on the system and could load the ogr-layer without any problems.
What's wrong?
What did I miss?
Where too look for the problem?

Any ideas?

Hi,
I'm setting tile provider for my map. some of providers work fine but some of them not working. for example GoogleTerrain work fine but GoogleSatellite not show some of places. First I think that source of this provider not show some of places but when I use another map manager (for example QGIS) it works fine. anybody know whats the problem?
In addition when I log the requests of providers I see that the Bing providers not send any requset and log is empty. why not set URL for this provider?

New Post: Accessing MapWinGIS assemblies from python?

Hi,
Up until now I have been trying to use gdal/osr .dll files to call their functions in ironpython 2.7.
Sadly I did not succeeded in this.

Encouraged by the simplicity of the Mapwindow syntax, I am wondering if I could do the same? Call Mapwindow .dll assembly(ies) from ironpython?
I downloaded and installed the MapWinGIS v4.9.3.6 Win32 version, and took a look at the installation folder.
However, I can not access the MapWinGIS.ocx file as it is not a .NET librabry.

Does anyone know if I could even load mapwindow librabries from ironpython?
Just to make it clear: I am forced to use ironpython, not regular python.

Thank you for the reply.

Thanks for the answer. I first place the markers, the markers and then you need to build lines. How do I get the coordinates of the markers?
it will be something like a direct route

All right, but you need to build a line from one marker to another as a click on the marker to get its coordinates?
let's say I have 10 markers and the line should be built from the 7 to 5, from 5 to 3, from 3 to 10, from 10 to 1, and so on. Click on the 7 and then 5 build a line between them.

Thank you.

Sorry for replying so late, I'm catching up with the questions.

Can you share the url of the TMS provider so we can try to fix this? I think the provider should report if it is using flipped coordinates.

A work-around is to use a XML file to load the data. That should work because in the XML-file you can set that the coordinates are flipped.
One drawback though, the tiles are not cached so it will be a bit slower.
Here's some info about the XML format: http://www.gdal.org/frmt_wms.html

At this time this isn't of primary importance (for me).

I'm sorry that C++ is not in my toolbox, else I woul try to help.

Have to say, that 4.9.3.6 is really great! I'm working with Mapwingis for nearly ten years now and you did (and do) a great job!!!
