Commented Unassigned: Changing Date field type to Character type afer edit dbf [25370]

Hi

I've got problem with 4.8.8 version of ManWinGIS.
When i edit a shape file and then finish it with .StopEditingShapes. My DBF file fields type are changed. It happens to data type fields -> convert do character fields.

Please help me with this problem

Reviewing it before 4.9.3 beta release: shapefile.h doesn't have dedicated functions for date type. However I guess it's possible to store date values in DBF as strings, then parse and populate Date field of VARIANT structure with them. But there certainly will be problems with locales/formats. Also it would require quite a lot of changes in other places, as other routines don't expect date type. Therefore probably I would prefer to leave it as it is. Nevertheless I leave this one opened.
